Successful Readers

Helping struggling readers become successful readers is at the heart of what we do. By following our step-by-step processes, you’ll find a pathway to increased student reading achievement. A number of our clients have found scores in math and other areas also increase with better reading skills.

Effective Early Intervention

Research is clear that finding and reacting to student skill deficits early is more effective than providing intervention later. One of the fundamental beliefs of Response to Intervention (RTI) is identifying at-risk students early and providing immediate intervention will prevent many students from needing more serious services later. The number of students referred for testing for qualification for special education services will be reduced with effective early intervention processes. Getting at least 95% of kindergarten students to benchmark is like an “inoculation” that prevents later difficulties.

Significant Improvements

We frequently begin working with schools with fewer than 50% of students reading at grade level. With our help, they often achieve significant improvements in the first year and improvement continues year after year. We have demonstrated, even in large and diverse districts, that 95% or more of students can read at grade level.
